Richard Buckner is a songwriter I am not listening to enough nowadays, but that wasn’t always the case (see my review of his album Bloomed here). So I am lucky I found this fine, intimate acoustic rendition of Townes Van Zandt’s Still Looking For You.

Jeff Tweedy : Remember The Mountain Bed (Live At Farm Aid 25)
Ex-Uncle Tupelo and now Wilco singer/songwriter and guitar player Jeff Tweedy just as I like him best. Solo, acoustic and heartfelt (actually, the same can be said about most artists).
Greg Brown : All Of Those Things on A Prairie Home Companion
Greg Brown, who recently turned 66, returned to A Prairie Home Companion a year ago to record this song. I do not know if it’s a newly written one or from one of his albums I haven’t yet bought. It’s not one of his most catchy songs but rather shows him at his most introspective, yet hopeful. And I haven’t got to mention that voice. Classic Greg Brown stuff.
Barna Howard : I Promise I Won’t Laugh
Some lovely Folk goodness from the talented Mr. Howard. Plus, he’s playing a sweet Martin Guitar (which is always a plus in my book).
Doug Paisley : Wide Open Plain
Fine song by Canadian Singer/Songwriter Doug Paisley
Dave Van Ronk – Sunday Street
What a guy.
Aiofe O’Donovan : The Lakes Of Pontchartrain
Wonderful. No more to be said.
The Stray Birds : Best Medicine
The first song I heard by a band that was previously unknown to me. Of course this sounds quite a lot like Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings’ work, but what the hell is wrong with that? Nothing, that’s what.
Bill Morrissey and Greg Brown : He Was A Friend Of Mine
Just bought the album of the same name and it is really outstanding – which could have been expected of course, coming from Mrs. Morrissey and Brown. This version of the classic He Was A Friend Of Mine is gorgeous and heartwarming.
For Tex Art Hobart and Michael Roth (who are both alive and well, by the way). You know who you are to me.
Bruce Cockburn : Pacing The Cage
Finally bought Bruce Cockburn’s (read my review of his excellent album Nothing But A Burning Light here) solo live album Slice O Life and Pacing The Cage is (so far) my favorite song from that album. Here he can be heard at his melodic and lyrical best, it’s a wonderful song. The video (if I am not mistaken) is taken from the documentary film about this tour.
